Osmani continues Central Asia tour in Turkmenistan
- OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani will continue on Monday his Central Asia tour with a working visit to Turkmenistan, following the visit to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in August 2023.
Skopje, 8 October 2023 (MIA) - OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani will continue on Monday his Central Asia tour with a working visit to Turkmenistan, following the visit to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in August 2023.
The visit to Turkmenistan is part of North Macedonia's OSCE Chairpersonship's priorities to provide support to the OSCE's field missions and their cooperation with Central Asian states, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
In Ashgabat, Osmani will meet with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, Foreign Minister Raşit Meredow, Chairman of the National Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, and Parliament Speaker Dünýägözel Gulmanowa.
In addition, Osmani will hold meetings with representatives of civil society organizations, the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, as well as resident ambassadors of OSCE participating States and partners from international organizations.
"Cooperation of OSCE's field missions in Central Asian states is of great importance in mitigating the consequences of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. Also, the Central Asia Region is directly exposed to the consequences of the humanitarian crisis and the overall situation in Afghanistan. The OSCE Framework for Action helps participating States in this region to provide adequate response to the situation in order to mitigate risks to its stability," reads the press release.
