Osmani attends Transatlantic Dinner hosted by Blinken

Skopje, 21 September 2023 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani attended Wednesday the traditional Transatlantic Dinner hosted by United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, within the frameworks of the 78th United National General Assembly in New York. The event was attended by NATO foreign ministers, as well as the Alliance’s Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks at the dinner focused on the current challenges faced by the transatlantic community, especially in the context of the consequences of the Russian military aggression on Ukraine, “which has undermined the international rules-based order and caused instability close to the Alliance.”

Additionally, the talks also touched upon the priorities for action in the transatlantic relations, and the significant decisions for the future of NATO adopted at the Summit in Vilnius.

In his address, Osmani reaffirmed the country’s full support for Ukraine, and highlighted that providing practical assistance for as long as it is necessary, remains as the priority of North Macedonia. He underscored that the country’s unconditional support for the Ukrainian people was once again emphasized with the joint statement of support for Ukraine adopted by the member countries of the US – Adriatic Charter (A5) at a meeting Wednesday, held within the frameworks of North Macedonia’s Chairpersonship of the initiative.

Osmani, according to the MFA, touched upon the current situation in the Western Balkan region, and the need for Euro-Atlantic integration of the countries from the region, as a significant investment in the regional and European stability.
