Skopje, 31 May 2024 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani took part Friday in the informal meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Prague.

Talks were focused on current security challenges, further strengthening of the support to Ukraine as well as key decisions expected to be adopted a the NATO Summit set to take place in Washington DC in July 2024, reads the press release.

Osmani referred to the need to accelerate Euro-Atlantic integration processes.

“Integrating the Western Balkans is essential for consolidating stability in the region and preventing destabilizing influences from third parties. The EU perspectives of the Western Balkans should be considered a strategic security policy,” Osmani stressed.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Osmani reiterated the already well-known positions of our country, “emphasizing that North Macedonia has been steadfast in its support for Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian aggression.”

He further highlighted that, as a reliable member of the Alliance, the country has already exceeded the 2% GDP threshold for defense spending. He underscored that it strongly supports the Alliance's open-door policy, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
