Skopje, 31 August 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani addressed the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) in New Delhi, as part of his official visit to India, during which he touched upon North Macedonia’s activities within the framework of its OSCE Chairpersonship in 2030, amidst complex geopolitical circumstances caused by the Russian aggression on Ukraine.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Osmani said that his visit to India comes at a time of great global challenges that are seriously threatening the global security architecture.
“Since North Macedonia and India are currently presiding over two significant international platforms – North Macedonia with OSCE, and India with G20, I believe that together we can ensure a better functioning of these processes, upon which the security of the citizens depends,” said Osmani, adding that the war on European soil doesn’t only affect Ukraine and its citizens, but also represents a threat for global security.
At the same time, Minister Osmani highlighted the country’s active contribution to the preservation of trans-Atlantic stability within the NATO alliance.
“We have demonstrated that we are a credible and secure ally, dedicated to promoting regional stability and maintaining our collective peace and security. North Macedonia is focused on protecting the peace and stability of the Western Balkans. This has been, and remains, one of the main foreign policy priorities of the country,” said Osmani.
Osmani also presented the other priorities of North Macedonia’s OSCE Chairpersonship in front of the representatives of the diplomatic corps, government institutions, analysts and representatives from the non-governmental sector and think-tank community in attendance at the Indian Council of World Affairs.
