Skopje, 12 July 2024 (MIA) - Pregnant women and persons over the age of 60 are released from work duties as of Friday and through to next Thursday, as per the Government's decision taken yesterday.
Due to the heatwave gripping the country, the Government recommended that employers reorganize the work activities of construction workers and workers working in the open, to avoid construction or other physical activities in the open during the period from 11 am to 5 pm.
According to the decision, children in kindergartens should stay indoors between 11 am and 5 pm.
The Government is issuing a recommendation to the local self-government units, the Red Cross and the centers for social affairs in the affected regions to provide assistance to elderly persons and the homeless. Considering that certain risk products and technological processes can pose a health risk to exposed workers, employers are reminded on their duty to observe regulations in the field.
The national weather service has said an orange heatwave alert is activated until the middle of next week due to extremely hot weather.
