Openly discussed unblocking Macedonia’s EU path with Macron, says Mickoski

Skopje, 7 November 2024 (MIA) - On the sidelines of the European Political Community event in Budapest I had a productive meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. We openly discussed unblocking Macedonia’s path to the European Union, wrote Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in a Facebook post Thursday.

“Today in Budapest, in the presence of the European Political Community, we had a quality working day full of many working meetings with European statesmen. I was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski, and Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani. I am optimistic about our future; we are fighting for our arguments and the truth that is unavoidable. We will do our best to protect the state and national interests,” Mickoski said.

The Prime Minister wrote that at the meetings they presented their arguments, the way they see the country’s economic future, its economic goals and the plan for the country’s development, while also presenting their views and arguments for the country’s Euro-integration path.

“With every meeting, we are fighting more and more for our arguments and the truth as it is, the truth felt by our citizens and important for Macedonia. We will continue to fight for Macedonia in the weeks, months, and years to come. We must succeed. We must be where we deserve to be, a successful European story with our place in the EU. After this meeting of the European Political Community here in Budapest, I am an even greater optimist that we must succeed, and we will. What matters is that we will do our best to defend the national interests of the Macedonian citizens and of our homeland,” Mickoski said.
