Open Balkan produces expected results, says Kovachevski

Skopje, 9 April 2024 (MIA) - The Open Balkan initiative has produced the expected results. Trade among the three member-states has increased, the system of free movement of workforce and facilitated flow of commodities is operational, said SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski on Tuesday.

Kovachevski told reporters that the future of Open Balkan is a question for the countries that are part of the initiative.

"Trade between Macedonia and Serbia has increased by 50 percent, trade between Macedonia and Albania by 40 percent, whereas total trade among the three countries has risen by 25 percent. If you ask businesses whether is it worth having the initiative they will say yes, if you ask workers they will say yes, but if you ask politicians then you will get philosophies because they do not have an agenda to show for," noted Kovachevski.
