Only one interpretation of erga omnes: Greek gov't spokesperson
- Incorporation of international law cannot be selective and Greece will not tolerate this. Athens, 25 June 2024 (MIA) - Incorporation of international law cannot be selective and Greece will not tolerate this. We want to see, loud and clear, observance of agreements without any exceptions, and we will not make any concessions from this position, said Greek government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis on Tuesday, MIA reports from Athens.
Asked by MIA if Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis would congratulate counterpart Hristijan Mickoski on his election, Marinakis told a press briefing that Greece abides by protocols when it comes to relations with all countries while also reiterating the country's positions.
"It is a fact that our country aspires to have good relations with all countries, especially with neighboring states, it abides by all protocols, be it an election process or a government swearing-in ceremony. Nevertheless, since there are certain new erroneous interpretations on the meaning of erga omnes, let me repeat there is only one interpretation according to international law. At this time, it seems that the new government of North Macedonia fails to observe this through series of formulations that go against international law. We expect to see alignment," said Marinakis.
