Leipzig, Germany, 2 June 2023 (dpa/MIA) - Dani Olmo has extended his deal at RB Leipzig until 2027, the German Cup winners said on Thursday, just two days before they seek to retain the trophy against Eintracht Frankfurt.
"We are very happy that we can announce this important personnel decision before the Cup final on Saturday," sporting director Max Eberl said in a club statement.
The 25-year-old is "one of the top players in the Bundesliga," he added.
According to media reports, Olmo has secured an exit clause of €60 million ($65 million). His previous contract was due to run out in 2024 and former club Barcelona were linked with a free agent signing next year.
Olmo said: "Both the club and I have a lot of plans and we want to take the next steps together. We play football that suits me perfectly and we have an excellent team."
This season he has missed 18 games across all competitions due to a knee injury and muscle problems. But in 30 appearances, he scored five times and set up 10 goals.
Olmo staying will help cushion the blow of Leipzig losing striker Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea and Konrad Laimer to Bayern Munich in July, according to reports.
