Skopje, 14 February 2022 (MIA) – A total of 39,222 tourists visited North Macedonia in December 2021, including 53 percent of local tourists and 47 percent visitors from abroad, show statistics. Also, a total of 78,237 nights spent were recorded – 52.9% by local tourists and 47.1% by foreign tourists, according to data of the State Statistical Office. The number of tourists in 2021 increased by 50.3% compared to the previous year. An increase in 16.9% was recorded among local tourists and 148.7% increase in foreign tourists. Also, the number of nights spent in 2021 rose by 36.3% compared to 2020. The number of nights spent by domestic tourists increased by 13.7%, while those by foreign tourists increased by 165.1%, said the Statistical Office.
