Skopje, 1 October 2024 (MIA) -- The number of workers in the industry sector in January through August 2024 has increased by 1.4 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the latest figures released by the State Statistical Office.

Compared to August 2023, the number of industry workers in August 2024 dropped by 0.5 percent.

"The number of employees in industry in the section Mining and Quarrying in August 2024, in comparison with August 2023, increased by 4.8%, and in the section Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning Supply, it increased by 1.3%, but was lower in Manufacturing by 0.9%," the SSO press release said.

"The number of employees in industry by Main Industrial Groupings in August 2024, in comparison with August 2023, was higher in Energy by 4.7%, Capital Goods by 10.5% and Durable Consumer Goods by 21.3%, but lower in Intermediate Goods, except Energy by 6.4%, and Non-durable Consumer Goods by 7.6%," it said. mr/
