Number of employees in economic zones reaches 16,700, exports at EUR 1,23 billion

Skopje, 7 May 2023 (MIA) - The number of employees in the technological-industrial development zones in April reached 16,700, a 15-percent increase compared to the same month in 2022, shows the Directorate's monthly analysis.
Nearly 500 citizens have been employed in the zones from the start of 2023.
Exports have also risen up to EUR 1,23 billion since the start of the year. In April, exports reached EUR 277 million, a 12-percent rise compared to the same month in 2022.
Regarding imports, they exceeded EUR 1 billion in the first four months of 2023. In April, exports stood at EUR 250 million, which is the same as in 2022.
Net exports in period January-April have risen by 20.5 percent.
The net profit of companies operating in the zones is higher by 10 percent compared to the previous year, whereas the net wages have risen by at least 13 percent compared to 2022.
