Norway donates 76 military vehicles to Army

Skopje, 26 March 2024 (MIA) – Norway donates 76 military vehicles to North Macedonia. In total, Norway sent 40 trucks and 36 light infantry vehicles, which were loaded Monday on to a cargo ship in Orkanger before heading for Thessaloniki, Norwegian Embassy said in a press release.

With the donation, announced in September 2023, North Macedonia will equip a light infantry battalion, according to the press release.

“The donation symbolizes the importance of NATO solidarity and cooperation between member states. The capability of the alliance to respond to a crisis or conflict depends on the strength and solidarity of all member states and not one nation alone. The NATO alliance turns 75 years on the April 4 this year. North Macedonia became a NATO member in 2020 and Norway has been a NATO member since the establishment of the alliance in 1949. The two countries have a long history of bilateral cooperation, and with the North Macedonia’s entrance of the alliance in 2020 the cooperation became even stronger,” reads the press release.

According to the press release, the donation is also an indirect donation to Ukraine, as North Macedonia previously has donated a considerable amount of equipment to Ukraine. With the Norwegian donation, North Macedonia will be able to re-stock some of the equipment they have given away.
