North Macedonia won’t provide COVID-19 testing at borders
Skopje, 1 September 2021 (MIA) – The government adopted the measure for mandatory vaccination certificate or proof of recovery from the virus upon exiting North Macedonia, so as the country isn’t labeled a virus exporter, and to support mass immunization as the best way to curb the spread of COVID-19, government spokesperson Muamet Hoxha told a press conference on Wednesday.
“This measure is an expression of our commitment to do whatever it takes so that North Macedonia is recognized as a country with an active immunization policy and not a virus exporter. We should have in mind that vaccination certificates and proof of recovery are mandatory upon entry in many European countries, as well as worldwide, so citizens should abide by this measure,” Hoxha said.
He also briefed reporters why proof of recovery is only valid for 45 days.
“Every measure adopted by the government is recommended by the Commission for Infectious Diseases. Each citizens planning to exit the country and travel abroad must present these documents – vaccination certificate and negative PCR test no older than 72 hours,” Hoxha underlined, adding that the country won’t provide testing at border crossings.
