North Macedonia vaccination rate goes up
Skopje, 21 August 2021 (MIA) – A total of 652,340 people have been vaccinated by Friday (Aug. 20) across the nation as part of the vaccination campaign, including field vaccination, which is going well, the Health Ministry said Saturday. A total of 13,398 citizens received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine yesterday out of a total of 17,099 citizens that were vaccinated. Health workers have applied a total of 1,152,275 vaccine doses so far. A total of 499,934 people are fully vaccinated. According to the Health Ministry’s statistics, 70% of people over 70 have received at least one dose; 67% of people over 65 have received at least one dose; 63% of those over 60 have received at least one dose; and 54% of the population over 59 have received at least one dose. North Macedonia introduced walk-in vaccination in mid-July in all vaccination centers in the country. Field vaccination is also ongoing. Also, the Pfizer vaccine is offered to children aged 12-18 with parental consent. “Vaccines, which are safe and efficient, are the only way to combat the pandemic. Only full vaccination can prevent serious symptoms of the disease, reduces the chance of contracting the virus and prevents death,” the Ministry said.
