Skopje, 30 September 2022 (MIA) — Parliament has extended the state of crisis in heating and electricity supply through April 2023. At a parliamentary session Friday, 86 lawmakers voted for extending the state of crisis over insufficient heating energy in the City of Skopje. There were no votes against and no abstentions. The nationwide state of crisis in electricity supply was extended with 83 votes in favor, no votes against, and no abstentions. The state of energy crisis came into force on Sept. 1 and was to expire today unless extended. A state of crisis allows government interventions in the local energy market as well as introducing power cuts or limiting consumption. Lawmakers did not discuss the third and fourth items on the session’s agenda — a Pelister National Park 2016-2030 planning proposal and draft amendments to the Law on Financial Discipline — because the documents had yet to be reviewed by the committees they had been assigned to.
