North Macedonia, Bulgaria railway companies meet in Sofia over Corridor VIII, joint intermodal terminal
Skopje, 5 October 2022 (MIA) – A coordination meeting on the progress of the Corridor VIII railway between Railways Infrastructure director Hari Lokvenec and Bulgarian counterpart Zlatin Krumov, along with Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimir Papukchiyski, took place in Sofia on Wednesday. Lokvenec said after the meeting that discussions focused on the initiative of establishing a joint intermodal terminal over the intersection of European corridors VIII and X. “In this way, the two corridors would gain importance, increase services and support to the economy while observing the European green agenda, and making Skopje the most important logistical center on the Balkans,” Lokvenec told MIA. He added that the meeting also tackled the support and promotion of Macedonian projects by Bulgarian representatives in EU institutions.
