North Macedonia and EU to sign security and defense partnership agreement on sidelines of FAC meeting in Brussels

Brussels, 18 November 2024 (MIA) – The two-day meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) opens Monday in Brussels, where Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski on the sidelines of the event tomorrow will sign an agreement on security and defense partnership between the Republic of North Macedonia and the European Union with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.

On Monday, FAC brings together EU foreign ministers, who are expected to express their views and opinions on Borrell’s proposal on ending the political dialogue as part of the Association Dialogue between Israel and the Union.

Borrell, who chairs the FAC meeting, will inform the ministers on the latest legal evaluation of Israel’s adherence to human rights and international humanitarian law and of Israel’s regulation on UNRWA. 

The debate on relations with Israel will be held as part of the discussions on the situation and the Middle East, one of the items on the Council’s agenda, alongside latest developments involving the Russian aggression against Ukraine, EU-US relations and developments in Georgia and the Horn of Africa. 

On Tuesday, EU defense ministers at day two of the FAC meeting will debate the bloc’s support for Ukraine and its defense preparedness.
