Skopje, 21 August 2023 (MIA) — VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski and VMRO-DPMNE MP Aleksandar Nikoloski met Monday with German Ambassador to North Macedonia Petra Drexler, according to a party press release.
At the meeting, Mickoski and Drexler discussed the EU integration process and the current political situation in the country, the release said, adding that he said "the government knowingly violates the parliamentary Rules of Procedure by not putting the constitutional amendments to a vote, because there's no two-thirds majority."
Mickoski also said the interrupted parliamentary session had confirmed this.
He reiterated that his party would not vote for constitutional amendments, adding that bilateral issues should not be a condition to start talks with the EU.
The VMRO-DPMNE head also said the government had no support from the public and an early parliamentary election was necessary.
"Mickoski also expressed great gratitude for the exceptionally good cooperation and support of the Federal Republic of Germany toward Macedonia," the party said. mr/
