Skopje, 28 August 2023 (MIA) - The Bulgarian Government has no reason to change its position on North Macedonia, we expect the country to fulfill its tasks on the path to the European Union, said Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov in an interview for Bulgarian newspaper “24 Chasa”.

Asked if Bulgaria will change its position on North Macedonia, Denkov stressed there is no reason for that, and that the talks are now being led between North Macedonia and the EU.

“Categorically no, and there is no reason for us to change our position. With the realization of the so-called French proposal, as a result of which the veto was scrapped, the talks are no longer between Bulgaria and North Macedonia, but between North Macedonia and the EU. What is expected from them now is to fulfill their tasks to the EU. There is no reason for us to change our position,” said Denkov.
