No migrants, no talks, PM assures public

Skopje, 25 December 2025 (MIA) - The public can rest assured that as long as this Government is in power, there will be no illegal migration, no legal migration, no migration resulting from failed asylum requests or some agreement, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Thursday.

PM Mickoski told a Q&A session in Parliament the claims of opposition SDSM that migrants would come as part of the strategic partnership agreement with the United Kingdom were absolute lies.

"SDSM's campaign was not only untrue but also aimed at ruffling feathers and creating headlines. These are not serious positions, this is political gymnastics that has absolutely nothing in common with the subject matter," said Mickoski.

According to him, the opposition is scared of snap elections next spring.

"We told them that we are serious politicians, and despite the fact that it is in our interest to have early elections, we will not do this because 2026 is a year of challenges and many things to be solved. As things stand, the parliamentary elections will take place in their regular slot in 2028," said Mickoski.

The PM welcomed the resolution that the Parliament has adopted, "which puts an end to this fabricated topic of migrants".
