Skopje, 26 August 2024 (MIA) - U.S. universities Harvard, Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have retained their positions at the top of the 2024 Shanghai Ranking of the world’s best universities. Once again, there were no Macedonian universities among the top 1000.

There are only two European universities in the top 10 – Cambridge and Oxford in fourth and sixth respectively.  

The highest ranked university from the region is the University of Athens, which is in the 301-400 range of universities. There are five other Greek universities on the list.

The University of Belgrade dropped from the 301-400 range to the 401-500 range. The University of Zagreb and the University of Ljubljana are in the 401-500 and 501-600 range respectively. The University of Novi Sad managed to retain its position in the 901-1000 range.

There are no Bulgarian or Albanian universities on the list.
