Skopje, 1 March 2023 (MIA) – The fact that there is no white bread on shop shelves means that we are all honoring the decision we made on Monday at the meeting at the Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the bakery industry told MIA.

There is no change of the decision yet.

In the meantime, the State Market Inspectorate is on the ground, conducting extensive controls on whether or not the government's decision to freeze the price of white bread at Mden 33 is being complied with.

“The bakers are simply following through. The decision was made on Monday and it has not yet been changed,” a representative of the Mill and Baker Industry Group told MIA.

The State Market Inspectorate will announce the results of the field inspections by the end of the day.

The Government decided to freeze the price of white bread that weighs 450 grams at Mden 33. PM Dimitar Kovachevski and the Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi said that the decision will go on until May 31 2023. The reason for this price freeze is the failure to follow the agreement to reduce the prices of basic food items in accordance with the subsidized electricity given to companies. dk/nn/
