No blockades at Evzoni border crossing until Friday

No blockades at Evzoni border crossing until Friday

Athens, 31 December 2025 (MIA) - Greek farmers will not block highways or border crossings from Wednesday to Friday, allowing citizens’ travel during the New Year period. The next steps will be decided at a meeting on Sunday, MIA’s Athens correspondent reported.

The Evzoni border crossing to our country, which Greek farmers had blocked during the past four days at 12 pm-4 pm and 6 pm-10 pm local time, will remain open until Friday. Tractors will remain on site but will not hinder the flow of traffic.

Farmers remain at their blockades, tractors parked in one lane across Greece without blocking traffic. They have said that, if necessary, they will celebrate Christmas and New Year at the blockades.

On Sunday at noon, a meeting will be held at the Malgara toll station near Thessaloniki, attended by representatives from all blockade sites across Greece, to decide on the next steps.

Farmers in Greece started protesting on November 30 due to rising production costs and low sale prices of their products. They also demand payment of overdue subsidies.
