Skopje, 15 March 2023 (MIA) - Agriculture is an outdoor sector and it depends on many factors, requiring a whole network of measures to protect it from unwanted climate events, be it drought, hail or anything else, said Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Ljupcho Nikolovski.
In response to a journalist's question about measures that the Agriculture Ministry will take if drought occurs, Nikolovski said the Ministry adapts every year with new measures, policies, tools and ways to protect agricultural production.
"We are following all conditions and reacting through the Program for Rural Development. Planting by plane is being successfully implemented for the third year in a row, and the new subsidization model allows for the municipalities to form committees, to estimate losses of potential yields from any climate disasters etc. We will be implementing all available measures, which allows us to talk about and focus on agricultural and ecological measures, measures to adapt to new climate change together and take these measures alongside other countries," Nikolovski told Wednesday's presentation of new measures to support small producers of food and beverages. dk/nn/
