Skopje, 31 August 2026 (MIA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski held Monday a working meeting with Raul Medina, Director General of EUROCONTROL in which it was noted that Macedonia has been marking a strong air transport development both according to the number of operation and according to the number of passengers, considered a significant contribution to improving the country’s connectivity, new airlines entering the market and opening new opportunities for the citizens and businesses.

Ongoing cooperation with EUROCONTROL was discussed in the meeting as well as ways to improving with an accent on strengthening the capacities of aviation authorities in Macedonia, the Transport Ministry said. 

The country, Nikoloski said, has been working on developing technical and operational capacities of the Civil Aviation Agency as well as those of “Macedonian Navigation” all the while efforts that are being made to advance and strengthen human resources in order the system to respond to the growing needs and the expecting further air transport growth. 

The government’s measures and policies, according to him, aim at improving the operations and capacities of aviation authorities and at creating conditions for sustainable development of civil air transport.

“Deputy PM Nikoloski also said that the new radar system, which has already been installed, is expected to enhance the technical capacities for air traffic management,” said the press release. 

The importance of resuming the cooperation with EUROCONTROL was reaffirmed, aimed at the country’s national priorities, which so far has been realized through the country support program so as to improve the safety, efficiency and air transport quality.

The meeting with Medina was also attended by Dragi Stojanoski, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency, and Vladimir Risteski, Director of M-NAV, were also in attendance. The visit of the Director of EUROCONTROL to Macedonia is part of the meeting of aviation authorities of the countries in the region, organized by the Civil Aviation Agency.
