Nikoloski: Excellent cooperation with Hungary invites economic and political progress

Skopje, 1 August 2024 (MIA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski held a working meeting with the Hungarian prime minister's political director, Balázs Orbán, in Budapest on Thursday.

The meeting highlighted the excellent political and economic relations between the two countries, with a special accent on the EUR 500 million in financial assistance that Hungary is providing to Macedonia in support of local economy, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said in a press release.

Minister Nikoloski expressed gratitude to his Hungarian colleague, emphasizing the Government's commitment to accelerating economic development and improving the rule of law and the fight against corruption.

"Interlocutors reaffirmed Hungary's readiness to provide necessary resources to deal with the wildfires in our country, in accordance with the latest decision of the Hungarian government to send firefighting vehicles," the press release reads.

The Minister highlighted the Government’s firm commitment to implementing the necessary reforms and the importance of the European integration process for maintaining stability in the region.

"Nikoloski said that the political relations between the two countries are at a high level, and pointed out the importance of Hungary’s assistance with the aim of accelerating the European integrations process," the press release adds.

In addition to exchanging opinions regarding bilateral cooperation, Nikoloski also presented the Government's priorities regarding the terms of conditions and attracting foreign investments.

"Interlocutors also opened issues related to security in the region and Europe, after which Deputy PM Nikoloski stated that Macedonia remains on course for active participation in promoting stability and security through EU and NATO's defense initiatives to strengthen transatlantic security. They also agreed that cooperation between the two countries will continue at a high level and with the help of Hungary's experience in European processes," said the Ministry of Transport. ssh/ba/
