Skopje, 13 December 2024 (MIA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski met Friday with Marian-Jean Marinescu, European coordinator for the newly established Western Balkan - Eastern Mediterranean transport coordinator. Nikoloski and Marinescu discussed government activities and projects that are being realized as part of the European transport corridors, with a special emphasis on Corridor VIII as a part of the Western Balkan - Eastern Mediterranean corridor.

Deputy PM Nikoloski noted that the Government is focused on the development of all types of transport as part of the trans-European transport network, with the country contributing to the development and promotion of regional cooperation by modernizing its transport infrastructure.

Nikoloski also stressed the Government’s commitment to the completion of the road and rail sections of Corridor VIII, as well as its readiness to construct a high-speed railway as part of Corridor X as a condition for regional development and integration with the EU’s markets.

“Boosting connectivity within the Western Balkans, as well as between the Western Balkans and the EU is a key factor for further integration that will result in clear benefits for the economies and citizens of the region, as well as stimulate economic growth on a national and regional level,” Deputy PM Nikoloski said.
