Struga, 19 January 2022 (MIA) — Struga swimming coach Nikola Kutanoski fished out the Holy Cross from the waters of Crn Drim earlier this morning. The 35-year-old triathlete told MIA’s Struga correspondent he had a dream last night he was walking around Struga with the Holy Cross in his hands. He also dreamed he would donate part of his award to the church being built next to the Women’s Beach. This, he said, was the reason he jumped into the water to retrieve the cross for the tenth time. “This is my tenth time jumping in after the cross,” Kutanoski said. “Every year [I jump] from the same place, from the same side. The feeling is indescribable. “I dreamed last night this year I’d be walking around with the cross and donating part of the money they give me to the construction of the Women’s Beach church. This is why I came here and this was my goal for jumping in.” The Macedonian Orthodox Church as well as numerous believers in Struga, including this year’s Epiphany godfathers Tomche and Stefcho Golaboski, gave Kutanoski appropriate gifts for his religious feat. mr/
