Nick Cave and Warren Ellis to score Amy Winehouse biopic 'Back to Black'

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis to score Amy Winehouse biopic 'Back to Black'

Los Angeles, 8 February 2024 (MIA) - Director Sam Taylor-Johnson has asked musicians and long-time collaborators Nick Cave and Warren Ellis to compose the score for her upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic "Back to Black".

"Nick and Warren were the only musicians in my mind to score "Back to Black". Over the years, I’ve listened to everything they’ve composed and longed to realise the dream of working together. Their sensibility as well as understanding of this story has led to a profoundly deep and moving film score," Taylor-Johnson said.

"Back to Black" opens in UK theaters in April, and comes to the United States in May.

The film stars actress Marisa Abela as Amy Winehouse, and features a number of the late artist's hits performed by the lead actress. Cave and Ellis put together the score for the project, and according to Variety, the two have already composed about 20-30 minutes of music. Cave and Ellis have scored numerous films together, including "The Proposition", "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford", "The Road", and most recently, the Marilyn Monroe biopic "Blonde".
