Skopje, 9 June 2023 (MIA) - We will define the next steps and the concrete ideas over the working groups with the oppositon at this evening's meeting of the SDSM central and executive boards, followed by intensified activities. Our communication is ongoing but we will officially address the opposition to open this dialogue, Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj has told MIA.
"We will hold a meeting of the party's central and executive boards, define the next steps and act swiftly, in communication with the opposition, to use this positive momentum and energy that resulted from the leaders' meeting and unburdened by previous positions," says Marichikj.
He finds it important that the opposition budged from its position and in a way changed its firm stance that the constitutional revision would not take place under any circumstances.
"It is good that they perceived the need for consensus and now they have to demonstrate this good will in action. The Government has extended its hand, the PM provided a concrete offer regarding the order of the next steps," says Marichikj.
He adds that the opposition has not rejected the idea and only put forward some additional conditions, noting it is worth to sit down and talk.
On the timeline of the constitutional amendments in the Parliament, the Deputy PM says it could happen in June, depending on the dynamics agreed with the opposition.
