New Pardoning Commission holds constitutive session

Skopje, 26 November 2024 (MIA) — The new Pardoning Commission held its initial session in the Presidential Office earlier on Tuesday, after President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova appointed its chairwoman Milka Ristova and members Oliver Bachanovikj, Aleksandra Gruevska Drakulevski, Blerta Ahmedi, Dragana Batikj, Afet Mamuti, and Doan Sulejmanoski, according to the President's Office.

 

 

President Siljanovska Davkova attended the session and wished the new commission members success in their work, expressing confidence that they would be guided by the principles of transparency and accountability, fairness and equality, compassion and understanding.

 

She also said they should contribute to strengthening trust in the institutions and their decisions should set an example of respecting democratic values.

 

According to the official press release, Siljanovska Davkova, highlighting her commitment to the rule of law and respect for human rights, said the presidential pardon was an important procedure and should be kept out of daily political bickering.

 

"She expressed her expectation that all decisions of the commission would be in the public interest and social values and that each case would be reviewed with the utmost professionalism as part of the legally established procedure," the release said. mr/
