New anti-crisis measures package to be unveiled next week

Skopje, 7 November 2023 (MIA) – Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi disclosed Tuesday that a new package of anti-crisis measures is expected to be unveiled by mid or late next week.

“The Ministry of Finance shared the anti-crisis measures package yesterday with the Prime Minister's Office, with us, and with the other institutions involved in its creation. The anticipated measures are likely to be officially announced and implemented by the middle or end of the upcoming week,” Bekteshi told reporters following his visit to Pivara Skopje.

Earlier, while visiting the factory alongside Bekteshi, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski pointed out that the government had chosen to expand the list of products with 'guaranteed prices' and that this measure would be effective until the end of the year.

Starting from September 20, the government's decision has put the 'guaranteed price' measure into effect for a total of 24 categories of food products. As per the government's decision, prices for products must be lowered by a minimum of 10% compared to rates recorded on August 1. The list of products with a 'guaranteed price' was expanded on September 27 to include beverages: non-alcoholic drinks, carbonated and non-carbonated water, as well as beer.
