Neither lack of oil and oil derivatives nor serious implications on diesel price expected: ERC chief

Skopje, 7 February 2023 (MIA) - Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) chairman Marko Bislimoski does not expect any lack of oil and oil derivatives in the country following the European Union's decision to ban the import of Russian diesel fuel or for it to have serious implications on the price of diesel in the coming period.

"The EU measure refers to diesel, extra light oil, mazut and kerosene but it cannot reflect on the country because we did not even import Russian diesel before," Bislimoski wrote in a Facebook post.

According to him, a vast majority (about 90 percent) of the oil derivatives, including diesel, are procured from Greece, where the Russian oil has little influence.

"At EU level, the Russian diesel procurement was about 15 percent and now the diesel procurement will largely come from Kuwait as a centralized shipment, in order to reduce transportation costs," says Bislimoski.
