Nebiu: Close relatives of Sasho Mijalkov have threatened potential buyers of his property

Skopje, 18 January 2024 (MIA) - Director of the Agency for Management of Confiscated Property, Driton Nebiu, said Thursday that close relatives of the former director of the Administration for Security and Counterintelligence Sasho Mijalkov have threatened potential buyers of his property.

"On the day when every applicant could go and see the flats, i.e. the state and condition of the flats, a group of people would also go there together with the closest circle of Sasho Mijalkov's family, telling potential buyers that they could not buy these flats, and that they don't want any new neighbors. This means that every citizen would question themselves whether to enter such games and whether it is worth buying and then having private problems," Nebiu told Telma TV.

He said it was a paradox that a son could buy confiscated property from a father, but the Agency for Management of Confiscated Property has acted in accordance with the law.

"I also said in a statement the other day that it is a paradox when property is taken from the father and the son buys it, but we must respect the law because the Constitution guarantees the right to participate for every citizen, including the closest family circle. According to the current law of the Real Estate Management Agency, except for the employees of the Agency and me as a director, everyone else has the right to apply and buy property from any convicted person, not just Sasho Mijalkov," said Nebiu, adding that steps have been taken towards changing the law.
