NATO defense innovation accelerator to help advance country's technological development, say Petrovska and Bytyqi
Skopje, 7 July 2022 (MIA) - Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska held Thursday a working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi focused on preparations for the establishment of a national structure in relation to the Defense Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA), which allows stronger and faster development of new and advanced defense technologies. "DIANA is an accelerator for introducing new and advanced technologies where challenges are detected with the ultimate goal being the Alliance and the member states to be technologically advanced and to have a high-level technological development in order to address all the new security challenges," the Defense Ministry said. During the working meeting at which the proposed concept for the formation of a national structure in this area was presented, Minister Petrovska said the Alliance has always been committed to developing new and highly advanced technologies adding that North Macedonia through this important initiative will have the chance to organize and develop scientific researches, that will be beneficial for both the country and the allies. The Defense Ministry prepared the proposed concept and is to appoint its own member in the DIANA Board of Directors, said the press release.
