National Postal Service issues postage stamp on 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Italy and North Macedonia

Skopje, 18 October 2023 (MIA) - A special postage stamp on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Italy and North Macedonia was promoted at an event in Skopje on Wednesday. The postage stamp is issued by the National Postal Service at the initiative of the Italian Embassy.

The event was held at the Union of Philatelists of Macedonia, with Italian Ambassador Andrea Silvestri, the head of the philately office Gani Darlishta, the president of the Union of Philatelists Sinisha Pavleski and the secretary of the union Viktor Gaber in attendance.

"I am certain that this significant anniversary will give an additional incentive to strengthen the excellent relations between Italy and North Macedonia. In this context, the postage stamp that we present today together with the Post of North Macedonia will remain a testimony to the sincere cooperation and friendship of our countries," said Ambassador Silvestri.

The postage stamp was designed by the young student and graphic designer Ivan Kominovski, who was selected in a competition organized by the Italian Embassy in April, in cooperation with the Dante Alighieri Institute in Skopje.

Darlishta said that the postage stamp is a symbol of the friendship between the two countries that will travel around the world to many other countries.

Viktor Gaber, who is also the first Macedonian ambassador in Rome, mentioned the most important historical moments since the establishment of diplomatic relations, highlighting the Italian political support expressed from the very beginning for the affirmation of the country at the international level.

The commemorative postage stamp is dedicated to the pioneer of innovative thinking and one of the most important philosophers of the Renaissance, Giordano Bruno, on the 475th anniversary of his birth.
