National Bank's Museum reopens to public

National Bank's Museum reopens to public

Skopje, 10 July 2023 (MIA) - The permanent collection of the National Bank's Museum reopens its doors to the public. Featuring coins from different historical eras, starting from the beginning of the 5th century BC to date, the National Bank's Museum showcases the largest public numismatic collection in the country.

"About 1,000 coins from the Museum's collection are displayed in an area of 240 square meters, arranged in 36 showcases. The permanent museum display is a testimony to the development of monetary systems and their standards in societies that have left their mark in the history of the country. Social and cultural developments, which have been reflected on the iconography and design of money, also have their place in the Museum. Guided by the idea that most central banks around the world care about their own cultural heritage, the National Bank initiated in 1999 the formation of a numismatic collection as a result of systematic purchase and donations. Entering this field of museum activity, the National Bank is today one of the pillars in the protection of movable cultural heritage," said the central bank.

Admission is free of charge and more information on opening hours and visiting the Museum is available at: https://www.nbrm.mk/poseta-na-muzejot.nspx.
