National Bank to host annual research conference on Friday

Skopje, 28 September 2023 (MIA) – The 9th Annual Research Conference is set to take place Friday in Skopje, hosted by the National Bank in cooperation with the Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee.
The topic of this year’s discussion is "Resurgence of Inflation and the New Geopolitical Realities, Redesigning Macroeconomic Policy."
President Stevo Pendarovski is to give a welcome speech while opening remarks will be delivered by Marc Uzan, Executive Director, Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee and Anita Angelovska Bezhoska, Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia. Alfred Kammer, Director of the European Department of the IMF, is to deliver the keynote lecture.
Following the current trends and the need for scientific research contribution, this year the topic of discussions will include the future directions of macroeconomic policy, open strategic autonomy, fragmentation and its meaning for central banking, as well as the regional EU perspective in the new global environment, the central bank said in a press release.
The event will be attended by governors of Lithuania, Armenia, Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, the alternate member of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank, the Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Belgium, senior officials of the international financial institutions, EU institutions and reputable scholars.
The tradition of the Annual Research Conference of the National Bank of Republic of North Macedonia continues through discussions of current topics by policymakers and researchers to contribute to the creation of new ideas and policies for economic development and prosperity, reads the press release.
