N. Macedonia producing results in open government processes: minister
Skopje, 14 December 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia has produced results that have been recognized in the open government process, including joining the initiative in 2021, adopting five action plans, engaging the citizens in the decision-making, and allowing better access to technology, Minister of Information Society and Administration Jeton Saqiri said Tuesday at a ministerial online roundtable as part of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Global Summit in Seoul. By opening and putting our resources at disposal to the public, Shaqiri said, we managed to improve dialogue, innovations and the use of technology so as to make the lives of the citizens easier and better. The Minister mentioned that early this year, North Macedonia introduced a software-backed register of beneficial owners. “This tool has increased transparency involving ownership of companies in the country, improved the international standards for money laundering and locating terrorism… We expect the issue to remain in the focus in the coming period,” he said among other things.
