MWA to host book launch for Acevska's new poetry collection

Skopje, 15 December 2022 (MIA) — The Macedonian Writers Association will host a book launch for Macedonian poet Vesna Acevska's latest poetry collection "Transformations" (Dijalog, 2022).

Talking about Acevska’s poetry will be Macedonian literature critic Branko Cvetkoski, Macedonian literature scholar Vesna Mojsova Chepishevska and Macedonian poet Vladimir Martinovski.

The fifty poems in “Transformations” are accompanied by the author's ars poetica essay titled "Why Transformations" as well as her notes on individual poems.

The book cover, designed by Zhivko Atanasov, features a detail from Salvador Dali’s "The Transfiguration of Narcissus."

Vesna Acevska (b. 1952, Skopje) writes poetry and fiction and translates from Russian and South Slavic languages. Her poetry has been included in many anthologies of contemporary Macedonian poetry published in the country and abroad. Books of her selected poems have been released in Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Poland and Turkey.

She has received the Struga Poetry Evenings’ Miladinov Brothers Award (2009), MWA’s Aco Shopov Award (2012), and the Grigor Prilichev Translation Award twice (in 2000, for the Finnish epic "Kalevala," and in 2009, for the Norse epic "Edda"). She was also given the Clement of Ohrid National Award (2016) for the highest achievements in culture. mr/
