Sofia, 2 December 2022 (MIA) – The Archeological Museum of North Macedonia, the National Archeological Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the National Museum of Serbia yesterday in Sofia signed agreements establishing joint activities.

Attending the signing ceremony, Bulgarian Culture Minister Velislav Minekov underscored the good cooperation and fruitful meetings he’d held recently in North Macedonia as well as the upcoming exhibition on Trebenishta in the Bulgarian capital, MIA’s Sofia correspondent reported.

North Macedonia’s Ambassador in Sofia Agneza Rusi-Popovska, who was also present at the signing, noted the positive dynamic of the relations between the two neighboring countries saying both have a joint European future.

Serbian Ambassador Zelko Jovic said since we live in difficult times, it is nice to go back to history in a different and better way.

The agreements signed in Sofia cover a seven-year period.

Following the exhibition about the Trebenishta necropolis, the cooperation between North Macedonia’s Archeological Museum and the Bulgarian National Archeological Institute will continue next year when the Bulgarian museum should organize an exhibit in Skopje dedicated to the culture of ancient Thrace.

The first “100 Years of Trebenishta” exhibition took place in Skopje in 2019. According to the agreements, the next two exhibitions dedicated to the riches of Trebenishta should take place in Sofia in 2023, and in Belgrade in 2025.
