Murtezani-Hasani: Strengthening regional stability by jointly addressing challenges of EU agenda

Skopje, 11 November 2024 (MIA) – Minister of European Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, Orhan Murtezani met on Monday in Tirana with the Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani.
According to the Ministry of European Affairs, this meeting highlights the strengthened bilateral commitment to advancing the EU integration path of the two friendly countries.
In this context, Minister Murtezani congratulated his Albanian counterpart on the recent second EU-Albania Intergovernmental Conference, which officially launches the EU membership negotiations by chapters, following the revised enlargement methodology, starting with Cluster 1 on Fundamentals.
“Additionally, he underscored North Macedonia's preparedness to begin negotiations by the end of the year, which would provide an additional impetus for the continuity of joint efforts on the European path,” reads the press release.
Murtezani and Hasani reiterated their traditional friendship and close bilateral ties, focusing on intensifying diplomatic relations and strengthening regional stability by jointly addressing the challenges of the European agenda.
They highlighted the importance of regional solidarity in this process, as well as the shared commitment of North Macedonia and Albania to implement the required reforms in line with European standards, according to the press release. It also adds that Minister Murtezani underscored that cooperation on the reform agendas, by developing shared work plans for essential sectors, fosters greater efficiency and speeds up the reform processes for both countries.
