Skopje, 2 September 2024 (MIA) — The Worth It coalition's statements that the motion filed to the Constitutional Court to determine the constitutionality of the Law on Languages and the Balancer tool would "open Pandora's box" are not political pressure on Constitutional Court justices, according to Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani in a Kanal 5 TV appearance on Monday evening.

"I don't think this is political pressure," said Murtezani, who comes from the ranks of Worth It.

"As politicians, whenever we feel that there is a risk of destabilization or a threat to the state's vital processes, we have to react accordingly. At the same time, I don't think the Constitutional Court cannot discern between constitutional and legal initiatives, say, from initiatives pertaining to security and politics or those that are a matter of destabilization," Murtezani said.

The Europe Minister said there were two reasons for his belief that the motion could destabilize the state.

"In 2019, this motion was submitted by Levica, which has publicly declared itself an anti-Western party and which wants to turn the state toward another political bloc. 

"Second, in 2019, when the motion was submitted, the Constitutional Court president was a Member of Parliament from the ranks of DUI's coalition, and so far it has been kept in a drawer to serve their agenda for a potential destabilization today," Murtezani said. mr/
