Murtezani - Ward: Ireland's assistance a significant contribution in achieving country's goals for EU membership

Skopje, 14 November 2024 (MIA) - Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani met Thursday with the Irish Ambassador to North Macedonia, Brendan Ward, based in Bucharest.

Talks focused on promoting friendly bilateral relations in all spheres of mutual interest, the country's European file and reform efforts in that context, the Ministry of European Affairs said in a press release.

Murtezani extended gratitude for Ireland's principled and ongoing support as a longstanding supporter of the EU's enlargement policy with the Western Balkans. He stressed the importance of cooperation in key reform areas that back North Macedonia's European agenda.

"Interlocutors also discussed the modalities of transferring Ireland's experience and expertise in the process of aligning with European standards, especially in areas of importance for our accession process. Minister Murtezani welcomed Ireland's readiness for such initiatives, noting that Irish assistance represents a significant contribution in achieving the country's goals for membership in the European Union," reads the press release.
