Mucunski: VMRO-DPMNE expects even better results than first round

Skopje, 8 May 2024 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE vice-president Timcho Mucunski told a press conference after the closure of the polling stations they expect even better results than the first round of the presidential elections, saying Election Day was peaceful while noting their pleasure that the threshold for the presidential elections has been reached.

"We are pleased that another scenario failed today, an attempt to create a crisis in the country by not electing a president. We are pleased that the threshold has been reached and it is quite certain that Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova is the new president of the Republic of Macedonia. We expect an excellent result, even better than the first round, and we also expect to have a clear picture on the future government later this evening," said Mucunski.

He added that several irregularities have been registered, including bribes and pressure.

Mucunski said the people have sent a message they want a new chapter.

"The people came out today to take Macedonia back. Macedonians, Albanians, Turks, Roma, Serbs, Vlachs, Bosniaks have united and voted to take back control over the system, bring the country back to normal, have a country that belongs to the people not the elites," said Mucunski.

He also said DUI's open call for boycott has failed.
