Washington, 11 July 2024 (MIA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski has announced that possible wrongdoings and illegal operations in the diplomatic and consular offices will be looked into.

“As part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the coming period necessary steps in a transparent and legal procedure will be taken to investigate possible wrongdoings and mistakes in the operations of the diplomatic and consular officers, primarily in those where there are serious allegations for the purpose of transparent actions and protection of the country’s reputation,” Mucunski told the national broadcaster MTV in Washington, where he is part of a government delegation attending the NATO Summit. 

As regards the Foreign Ministry expanding to cover foreign trade, Mucunski said that a different focus in foreign policy is needed.

“The activities to protect and promote the political interests should be enhanced with a concept that is much more than economic diplomacy. To promote export, but also to promote the country as a good destination for new direct investments will be a great challenge we can tackle in order to make the country a more beautiful place to live in,” the Minister stated.
