Mucunski in Montreal: Necessary to build mechanisms for safe return of Ukrainian civilians and deported children

Montreal, 1 November 2024 (MIA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski took part at a Ministerial Conference on the Human Dimension of the Peace Formula for Ukraine, held in Montreal on October 30-31, dedicated to the treatment of political and war prisoners, unlawfully detained civilians and forcibly deported children.
FM Mucunski addressed the event and highlighted the necessity of respecting the principles of security, cooperation and human dignity, while noting the urgent need for safe and sustainable ways to return displaced Ukrainians and added that the response should not be hesitant but action-driven, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said in a press release.
He added it is necessary to build mechanisms that would not only facilitate the safe return but also reaffirm common values of compassion, solidarity and resilience.
“Our participation and commitment will send a strong message on how we can work together not only on the protection of human rights but also ensure that every journey to security and dignity is respected and facilitated,” added Mucunski.
On the conference sidelines, Mucunski met with Kosovo Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Gërvalla, Serbian Minister of European Integration Tanja Miščević and European Parliament Vice-President Nicolae Ștefănuță, discussing international affairs, EU integration and regional developments, reads the press release.
