Mucunski - Geer: Government focused on accelerating country's Euro-integration process

Skopje, 25 July 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski met Thursday with European Union Ambassador David Geer, reaffirming the Government's strong focus on accelerating the country's Euro-integration process, and the need to deliver reforms that result in economic development, enhanced rule of law and fight against high-level corruption.

FM Mucunski and Ambassador Geer highlighted the importance of the Euro-integration process for regional stability and the need for sooner integration of the Western Balkans in the EU, considering the current geopolitical context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

Regarding the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which represents EU's significant political and financial investment in accelerating the countries' Union integration, Mucunski said the Government has already submitted the Reform Agenda to the European Commission.

FM Mucunski also met with the Ambassadors of Italy and Austria, Andrea Silvestri and Martin Pammer respectively.

Mucunski and Silvestri saluted the bilateral relations and readiness to strengthen them, especially in the fields of culture and economy.

Mucunski and Pammer agreed that despite the high volume of trade exchange, there is still room for increase of the bilateral trade.

The Austrian Ambassador was accompanied by Jürgen Schreder, regional head of Advantage Austria, the trade promotion organisation of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, with over 100 offices in 70 countries. It provides business development services for Austrian companies and international business partners.
