Mucunski – Suriani: To encourage dialogue and promote respect for religious freedoms

Skopje, 21 August 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski met Wednesday with the Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Luciano Suriani.

At the meeting, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, interlocutors voiced joint satisfaction with the overall development of bilateral relations founded on significant historic bonds, shared cultural values and shared spiritual traditions.

“The perspective of mutual relations and the need to intensify sectoral cooperation, above all in the field of culture, the protection of cultural and historic heritage, education and healthcare, were in the focus of talks” the Ministry said.

Minister Mucunski stressed the country’s role in the promotion of interfaith dialogue and respect for religious freedoms. He voiced gratitude for the Vatican’s support for the country’s path to the European Union, which, he said, is of special importance for the country and will remain a powerful inspiration for the citizens and a roadmap for the building of a prosperous society.

The Apostolic Nuncio, according to the Ministry, voiced his belief that dialogue will continue to be encouraged in the future through joint efforts; that the respect for religious freedom will be promoted and new bridges of understanding will be built in the spirit of the universal religious traditions.
